Jenna lashed out and Lia stumbled backwards.
Lia’s foot slipped over the step and she fell. She grabbed for the railing but her hand was sweaty and couldn’t get a good grip the smooth wood.
Jenna realised the moment Lia’s shoe had cuffed the stair that she’d hit too hard. She tried to grab her friend before they fell, but she was too slow.
Lia hit the stairs with a sickening crack and a scream so loud that the dogs way out at the farm’s gate began howling.
Jenna grabbed Lia before she tumbled down and tried to pull her back up.

They thought this would be a good place to rest, and went to the local tavern for a meal and a place to stay.
Rachel had a few drinks, and let the news of their immortality slip by mistake. They were laughed out of the bar.
A young man followed them out, and offered them a place to stay.
The girls were tired and drunk, and were glad for this kindness.
They walked until they came to the drawbridge of the royal castle.
They talked with the man over dinner, who revealed himself to be the prince, soon to be crowned king.
